The latest takeover deal to buy Bolton Wanderers has collapsed leaving the future of the club in serious doubt.
The Football Ventures consortium had been in talks with administrators to complete the purchase of the League One side, but that has now fallen through.
The BBC report that administrators are now “in the process of closing down the company” with the Trotters facing expulsion from the Football League.
Manager Phil Parkinson resigned last week having not been paid for five months while the youth team had been drafted in to play their first four league fixtures.
There is now a deadline of 17.00BST on Tuesday for a takeover to be completed otherwise Bolton will cease to exist.
