On-loan Bolton Wanderers winger Xavier Amaechi is seemingly closing in on a return to first-team action for the club.

That’s after it was revealed that the 21-year-old is set to feature the club’s reserves side on Thursday afternoon.

Amaechi joined Bolton on loan from German side Hamburg back in the summer transfer window, but has so far managed to make just eight appearances across all competitions for the club.

After breaking a bone in his foot in pre-season that kept him out of the first few months of the campaign, Amaechi has now not featured since suffering a hamstring strain back in December.

Now however, it looks as though the winger is set to take the next step in his recovery process this afternoon.

Which club did Bolton sign these 28 midfielders from?

Providing an update on Amachi on their official website, Bolton confirmed that the 21-year-old will feature for the club’s reserves when they face Burnley’s Under 23s in the Central League cup clash this afternoon, as he looks to get back up to full fitness.

The Verdict

This does look to be welcome news for those of a Bolton persuasion.

Things are going well on the pitch for Ian Evatt’s side right now, with the Trotters having won their last four games in a row, and this will only lift the mood around the club even further.

Amaechi is clearly a talented player with the ability to make things happen, so adding him to a side who are already in the sort of form Bolton are, only ought to make them even more of a threat.

Indeed, after such a frustrating time with injury so far, Amaechi himself will surely be desperate to get fit and playing regular first-team football, in the way he will have hoped to do when he first made the move to Bolton.
