Thiago Motta’s high-flying Bologna etched new history once again in the Serie A after their 2-1 win over Atalanta in the league.

The win made sure that the Rossoblu climbed to fourth in the table and are in a sureshot Champions League spot, even though a fifth-placed finish can take a team to the Champions League right now.

Bologna completed a comeback, as Atalanta were 1-0 up but goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Lewis Ferguson handed them all three points and took them into fourth. But the win was their sixth consecutive win in the Serie A, as they had beaten Verona some days ago and Lazio before that.

As per Opta Paolo, this is only the third time in the club’s history that Bologna have won six games in a row. The last time they did that was between April and May of 1967 and also did it in 1964. So under Motta, this is the first time in over fifty years that the club has achieved this milestone and it says everything about their progress under the former midfielder.
