Serie A outfit Bologna are among several clubs to be showing an interest in Manchester City’s highly-rated full-back talent Yan Couto, according to reports.

The 21-year-old Brazilian youth international is coming into the summer transfer market off the back of yet another impressive campaign out on loan, playing an integral role in the successes of Girona in La Liga last season.

Remaining within the City Football Group has enabled Couto to remain under the watchful eyes of key decision makers within the global football portfolio, and as such stay closer towards a stay at Manchester City than other talents within the group.

The 2023/24 season will be hugely important for Couto in his development, and for his hopes of playing a role in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City set-up. As such, the City Group and the Premier League giants themselves are taking their time over the next step.

According to new information provided by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the City Football Group are currently looking for the ‘best solution’ for Yan Couto, with Serie A side Bologna named as an interested option for the full-back.

While it is stated that talks will take place soon, there are also other clubs in the race for the youngster, and perhaps unsurprisingly so given his 26 appearances across all competitions for Girona last season.

Last month it was reported by Brazilian press that Corinthians were among a number of clubs from South America to be interested in the services of Couto – who rose through the ranks at Coritiba before joining Manchester City in 2020 after being heavily linked with Barcelona.

The 2022/23 season saw the rise of another right-sided full-back at Manchester City, with Rico Lewis proving to be hugely instrumental to the successes of Pep Guardiola’s side during the second-half of the season.

The England youth international made the inverted full-back position is own, operating in the large majority of his appearances alongside Rodri or another defensive midfield partner when in possession of the football.

Lewis’ game time is only expected to increase during the upcoming season, with Kyle Walker not having age on his side, and Pep Guardiola expected to stick with the 3-2-5 formation that won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League last season.
