Bologna are reportedly eager to maintain the services of Giovanni Fabbian beyond the current campaign, so they would like to find an agreement with Inter on this front as soon as possible.
The 21-year-old started his career at Padova before joining the Nerazzurri in 2018. He rose through Inter’s ranks, cementing himself as one of the most talented players at the club.
The attacking spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Serie B side Reggina. His exploits earned him interest from Bologna who poached his signature in the summer of 2023.
The Rossoblu signed the Italian on a permanent basis. However, Inter still have control over the player’s future thanks to a buy-back clause.
Therefore, the Italian champions will have the opportunity to bring back Fabbian for 12 million euros next summer.
Many sources expect the Nerazzurri to activate this clause, even if they don’t necessarily intend to keep the youngster at Appiano Gentile.
Based on his market value at the time, Inter could register an immediate windfall by selling him to another club.
So according to Il Resto del Carlino via FcInterNews, Bologna would like to avoid this scenario by securing a new agreement with the Beneamata.
This could see the Emilians paying Inter an amount to waive the buy-back clause.
If they manage to do so, Bologna would gain full control over Fabbian’s future. It would allow them to either keep his services or sell him for a profit.
The source mentions how Bologna regret missing out on a bigger transfer fee for Riccardo Calafiori.
The Italian joined Arsenal for circa 50 million euros, but his former club FC Basel had a 50% sell-on fee.
Therefore, the Champions League new boys would like to anticipate the situation this time by getting rid of Inter’s buy-back clause.
