Thousands of fans gathered at the training ground late last night to welcome Bologna back from their victory at Napoli, as Champions League qualification could be secured today.

The Rossoblu emerged 2-0 winners at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona thanks to early goals from Dan Ndoye and Stefan Posch, while Federico Ravaglia saved a Matteo Politano penalty.

While the club had already guaranteed European qualification after more than 20 years, they could be celebrating Champions League entry tonight.

If Roma do not beat Atalanta in the head-to-head in Bergamo this evening, then Thiago Motta’s team will have secured their spot in the top five.

Bologna welcomed back by fans

When the squad returned to the Casteldebole training ground late last night, thousands of fans had gathered to greet them with flares, fireworks and smoke bombs.

The squad clambered up onto the roof of the ground to salute them and film the scenes on their phones.

June 2024 will also be the 60th anniversary of the most recent Bologna Serie A title, which was won in a play-off with Inter.
