Sky Germany reports Bochum are set to complete the loan signing of Ajax central defender Jakov Medic with an announcement expected soon.

The deal is a one-year loan with a €2m buy option, the 25-year-old will have his medical in the Ruhr today (Tuesday) ahead of the announcement. It is likely that the arrival of Medic will mitigate any issues caused by the potential departure of Bernardo, who has been linked to other Bundesliga sides.

This will not be Medic’s first time in Germany as he spent seven years with Nürnberg, Wehen Wiesbaden and most recently St.Pauli before moving to the Netherlands last summer. However, during his time in Amsterdam, Medic has only featured nine times.

Medic’s arrival at the Ruhrstadion will be Bochum’s 10th signing of the summer. The club have made use of free transfers and loans as they try and improve their squad after being saved from relegation by the skin of their teeth last season whilst also making up for the losses of Kevin Stöger, Patrick Osterhage and Takumi Asano.
