Boca Juniors cruised to a 2-0 win over Paraguayâs Libertad in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores round-of-16.
RamĂłn Ăbila set the tone for the Xeneize just seven minutes into the game as he slammed home a loose ball off a set piece. As you can see in the video below, the Paraguayan side were quite convinced that Paolo Goltz handled the ball in the area just prior to Ăbilaâs strike.
Boca continued to dominate the match and didnât allow Libertad to have a single shot on goal in the first half.
Just before the intermission, ZĂĄrate scored his debut goal, as he dribbled through multiple defenders to double Bocaâs advantage.
ZĂĄrate and Ăbila worked a wonderful piece of interplay to allow the 31-year-old to go on a magical run and score his debut goal.
Poor weather conditions plagued the players from each side in the second half, which allowed each team to create very few opportunities.
However, right before the final whistle, Wilson Leiva unleashed a shot from 30 yards that forced Boca goalkeeper Esteban Andrada into making a phenomenal fingertip save to preserve his clean sheet.
The 27-year-old Andrada joined Boca just days ago from LanĂșs after he spent 10 years with the club.
The two sides will play the return leg in Paraguay on 30 August.
