The Mainz boss has revealed his stance on the Clarets' supposed pursuit of him.

Burnley's search for their next manager has continued on, and one of the linked candidates to replace Vincent Kompany, Bo Henriksen, has given his response to the latest reports.

The Mainz boss is one of many names that have been associated with the home dugout at Turf Moor over the past few weeks.

It's been almost a month since Kompany was announced as the new Bayern Munich manager, but Burnley have seemingly not got much closer to deciding who will be the one to follow on from the Belgian coach.

Henriksen was named by the Lancashire Telegraph as being on the list of options for the Clarets, alongside the likes of Scott Parker, Carlos Corberan and Liam Rosenior.

Club owner Alan Pace was reported to be keen on bringing in a 'name' manager; someone that would attract attention. Ruud Van Nistelrooy looked to be the perfect option for that, and De Telegraaf said that he was close to agreeing a deal to be Kompany's successor.

Now it looks more likely that he'll be heading back to Old Trafford to join Erik ten Hag's backroom staff at Manchester United.

QPR manager Marti Cifuentes has also played down the chances of him leaving Loftus Road after reports suggested that he was a target for Sunderland and Burnley.

Burnley may now be at risk of losing another candidate, as their reported Danish target is set to bat off any advances that the Lancashire side may make.

Bo Henriksen responds to Burnley links

Henriksen has said that he is "settled" where he is and dismissed the idea of him heading to the Championship side.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, a Danish publication, the 49-year-old said, on the links between him and the newly-relegated second tier side: "I am not commenting on any of that at all. I am super happy in Mainz and I am happy to be there.

"(Mainz) is a great club. My family has settled in well. That is the most important thing. Then I will leave all other speculation to agents and others."

He has been in charge of the German side since February, and only managed the final baker's dozen games of the Bundesliga season. His resume also includes clubs like FC Zurich and FC Midtjylland, where he worked with new Burnley assistant coach Henrik Jensen.

Burnley are edging closer to Sunderland's position

Oddly enough, there have been more managerial changes at the top end of the Championship than there have been at the bottom. Hull City and Norwich City, who battled for the final play-off spot, will both have different faces in charge at the start of next season than they had at the end of the last.

Sunderland didn't end the season how they would've liked to - they slipped down to 16th in the table under interim boss Mike Dodds. They went over four months before they found the man to succeed Michael Beale.

In terms of timescale, Burnley still have a long time to go before they are at the same stage as the Black Cats, but the options do seem to be dwindling for them.

Henriksen, Van Nistelrooy, Cifuentes; they're all probably off the list of targets now. The likes of Parker, Rosenior, Craig Bellamy and others are still on the table, but the fact that the options are starting to dwindle might make some Clarets fans a bit uneasy.
