Tottenham target Morgan Sanson close to joining Aston Villa

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Olympique Marseille star, Morgan Sanson is close to completing a transfer to Premier League club Aston Villa. The midfielder had been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Tottenham had been credited with an interest in the midfielder in the past, while reports of interest once again came up earlier this month. However, it was claimed that Tottenham would be set to face competition from the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa for Morgan Sanson. (h/t Daily Mail)

In fact, Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas had claimed that the club had already rejected an offer from Aston Villa.

However, Romano is now insisting that an agreement between the two clubs is close to be arrived at. The Italian journalist has stated that personal terms have already been agreed between the player and the club, with Villa set to pay €17m to Marseille for his services.

Given his ability to make a difference on both ends of the pitch, Sanson would have been a handy signing for us. However, it seems like it will be Aston Villa where the 26-year-old ends up in the coming week.
