As confirmed by Real Madrid a little while ago, Kylian Mbappe is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been hospitalised for further tests and appropriate medical treatment.
Building on that, MARCA now reports that Mbappe will not be available for Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup match against Pachuca in what comes as a major blow for Los Blancos.
Mbappe began feeling unwell after Monday’s training session, just 48 hours before the match against Al-Hilal. Since then, not only has he been unable to train, but he has barely left his room.
The French striker has been isolated in the team hotel since 16 June, completely cut off from his teammates and too weak to go about normal activities. The club followed the isolation protocol strictly.
Although Xabi Alonso stated before the Al-Hilal game that he would wait until the last minute to decide on Mbappe, the player was in no condition even to join his teammates in the stands. He remained at the hotel to rest.

As his condition has not improved as expected, Real Madrid decided to transfer him to a hospital for closer monitoring, further medical testing, and more effective treatment.
Under these circumstances, Mbappe is completely ruled out for the second Club World Cup match against Pachuca. The extreme conditions of the tournament, 35 degrees Celsius and 70% humidity, are also not helping his chances of a quick return once he recovers.
Mbappe arrived at the Club World Cup in top form, fully convinced it could be his tournament after a spectacular end to the season, which saw him win the Pichichi and the Golden Boot.
Having racked up 43 goals so far in his debut season at Real Madrid, he had set his sights on reaching 50 with a strong showing in the Club World Cup.
However, Mbappe has only participated in two training sessions in Miami and has missed nearly all of Real Madrid’s activities in the United States.
The France captain did attend an autograph session with fans but was absent from the official FIFA photoshoot and was unable to greet club president Florentino Pérez upon his arrival at the team hotel.
For now, Mbappe’s return to action remains uncertain, although there is still a chance he could be available for the third group match against RB Salzburg on Friday, 27 June.
