Club Brugge have suffered a serious blow in their title challenge with the news that striker Thiago will be out for the season. The Brazilian forward is the sides top scorer and is set to join Brentford this summer for a club record fee. However, he is set to miss the final games of the season with a ligament injury. The return date is unclear and will be something of concern to his future club Brentford. Club have announced that the striker will undergo further testing but they do not expect to see him again this season.

After a 2-2 draw with Union St Gilloise on Monday night, in which Thiago was injured, Club remain in the hunt for the title. It appears to be a two horse race between themselves and Anderlecht. The two sides meet in Brussels this weekend. With just two games to go, Anderlecht can secure the title with a win as they would go three points ahead of Club. Anderlecht finished above their title challengers in the regular season so would win the tie breaker, plus they would have won more games this season.
