Beating Manchester United really took it out of the Juventus squad but Cristiano Ronaldo remained fit and firing and unaffected by the demands of Champions League football.
That’s according to Blaise Matuidi, who claimed his team-mate in Turin has been working exceptionally hard but is wired not to feel the effects of his gruelling routine.
Ronaldo has hit top form after a slow start for the Serie A giants, hitting seven goals in his last seven league games, and Matuidi has revealed just how dedicated he is.
“We were all dead tired after the match against Manchester United and the day after, except Cristiano,” he told RMC Sport.
“He’s been working like crazy ever since he got here. He’s been at it more than anyone else and he told me he ‘had to’ behave like that.
“That’s why at 33, he’s been an example for all of us and given us an extra stimulus. His influence isn’t limited to his work during the week.
“He’s also crucial over the 90 minutes. He can do things that others can’t to help improve the team’s game.
“Everyone feels much stronger alongside him. He’s a leader in this sense.”
Next up for Juventus is Cagliari at home on Saturday.
