You’d be hard-pressed to find a harder working footballer than Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Since the beginning of last summer, the 31-year-old has played a total of 80 games.

In addition to 61 games for Juventus since arriving from PSG last summer, Matuidi has featured 19 times for World Cup-winners France.

Although the Frenchman could use a break, he admits that there’s simply no time to do so.

“I’d gladly take a week’s holiday by the sea, if only I could,” Matuidi admitted in an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

“It’s not possible though. I have a game with France on Friday, we’re world champions and we need to take the Nations League seriously.

“I’m trying to give everything, even with these conditions, and being on the bench against Manchester United helped me a lot.

“Luckily a team that takes pauses never wins anything, and I had no doubt we’d immediately cancel out the loss to United.”

France will travel to face the Netherlands on Friday before they host Uruguay in a friendly the following Tuesday.

Matuidi will then have to gear up for Juve’s Serie A clash at SPAL just four days later on Saturday, 24 November.
