FLW's Blackburn Rovers fan pundit has been discussing one realistic signing they want to see Rovers make this summer.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Blackburn Rovers will be hoping to build on their excellent end to the 2024/25 season with a successful summer of transfer business.
Valerien Ismael did not enjoy a winning start to his Blackburn tenureship, with his side failing to win any of his first seven games in charge of the club between 1 March-8 April.
However, just as tensions around Ewood Park had reached boiling point, Rovers turned their form around in sensational fashion, ending the campaign with a six-game unbeaten run, four of which were wins.
That almost saw them climb back into the play-offs, but they would ultimately finish two points behind sixth-placed Bristol City.
Despite that, Blackburn's end to the season has offered renewed hope that the Ismael regime can bring about success, but in order to go one better next term and crack the top six, Rovers will need to enjoy a strong summer transfer window.
We asked our Blackburn Rovers fan pundit, Simon Middlehurst: 'What is one realistic signing you'd love your club to make this summer and why?'
Middlehurst said: "One signing that I'd love the club to make would be re-signing Thomas Kaminski from Luton.
"He was probably one of the standout players for Luton Town last season, and he's obviously been at Blackburn for a few years. He was absolutely quality as well.
"He's still very, very liked by the Blackburn fans and by the club. He's still got friends at the club as well. I think with Luton being relegated to League One, the likelihood that we could probably get him on the cheap would be great.
"I think he would slot straight back into that number one position, and add a bit of leadership into the side as well, which would be really good.
"If we're looking at Luton again, probably Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu - the self-proclaimed man who completed football. I think with his experience, he's played at every single level of English football, he knows the Championship really well.
"He was part of that Luton Town team that went from National League right up to the Premier League. He's still only 31 as well, and I think he'd be someone we could get on a free and add a bit more experience to the team."
Blackburn underwent a slight rejig of their goalkeeping hierarchy towards the end of this past season.
27-year-old Aynsley Pears has been the number one at Ewood Park for some time now, and for the most part of the 24/25 campaign, that was the role he played once again.
However, after starting 40 Championship games last season, Pears was benched for the final four league games, with Hungarian shot-stopper Balazs Toth being handed the chance to audition for the starting role.
The 27-year-old made a strong case when given the opportunity in his debut season at Ewood Park too, as from his six Championship appearances this past season, Toth conceded just five times, and kept two clean sheets - per FotMob.
As such, he may well have moved ahead of Pears in the pecking order, but the jury does still perhaps remain out on whether he can be trusted yet to become the full-time starter heading into next season.
Kaminski, on the other hand, has had his Championship verdict solidified. The Belgian international has racked up four seasons of second tier football under his belt for both Blackburn and Luton, as well as starting every single one of the Hatters' 38 Premier League fixtures in 2023/24.
He kept 33 clean sheets in 118 total appearances for Rovers - per Transfermarkt - during his three years with the club between 2020-2023, and established himself as one of the most solid second tier shot-stoppers during that time.
Therefore, given there is some uncertainty over who will be the club's starting goalkeeper next season, bringing back a proven performer who knows the division and the club extremely well, has the feeling of a no-brainer for Blackburn, should a deal prove possible to complete.
