Blackburn Rovers not rush their decidision on whether to make striker George Hirst and defender Clinton Mola’s loan moves permanent, the Lancashire Telegraph has revealed.

Both Hirst and Mola joined Rovers on season-long loans back in the summer transfer window, arriving from Leicester City and Stuttgart respectively.

As part of those deals, the Championship club have the option to make the signings of both players permanent in the summer.

However, the duo have so far found game time somewhat hard to come by. Hirst has made just eight league appearances for Rovers, starting only twice, while he missed a stoppage time penalty in the 1-0 defeat at Cardiff.

Mola meanwhile, has featured on four occasions for the Ewood Park club, his only starts coming in their last two matches before the World Cup break.

As a result, it seems Rovers will be taking their time before deciding on whether to trigger those options to buy.

According to this latest update, Blackburn will not rush their decision over making those deals permanent, given they do not have to make that final call until the end of the season.

Which shirt number do these 25 Blackburn Rovers players currently wear?

Indeed, with the club not obliged to take up either option, there is still plenty for them to think about before it comes to making that judgement.

The Verdict

This does seem to be a sensible stance for Blackburn to take over Mola and Hirst.

Neither have really had much of an opportunity to show what they can do with a regular run in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side so far this season.

As a result, it would seem premature to make such a call so soon, especially when there is plenty of time remaining for them to show what they can do, before a decision has to be made.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see when and how the chances come for the duo to prove themselves in Rovers colours going forward.
