Blackburn Rovers sign former Manchester City midfielder Toland | OneFootball

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of former Manchester City midfielder Tyler Toland on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from the Lancashire club this afternoon.

Toland was tipped for a very bright future in the game when she started out at senior level with Manchester City. The midfielder struggled for playing opportunities at The Academy Stadium and she went out on loan to SWPL 1 club Glasgow City. Toland left Manchester City in summer 2021 and joined Celtic where she enjoyed a successful spell. The player has most recently been playing her football in the Spanish top flight with Levante UD.

On the international stage, Toland has 13 senior caps to her name for the Republic of Ireland while she has scored one goal. The midfielder has not been involved with The Girls In Green since their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying campaign but she could return to the national team in the longer-term.

Toland becomes new Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker’s first signing of the summer transfer window. Parker is expected to have a busy few weeks in the transfer market as he moulds his squad for the new Barclays Women’s Championship season.
