According to Football Insider, there are also two MLS clubs eyeing a move for the forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old joined Swansea in the summer of 2023 following Blackpool’s relegation from the Championship.

However, he spent last season out on loan with Derby County after falling down the pecking order under Luke Williams, scoring 10 Championship goals for the Rams as they survived relegation to League One.

It has been reported that there are three Championship clubs in the hunt for the signature of Yates this summer.

That includes Blackburn, QPR and Hull, who are hoping to strengthen their attacking options for the campaign ahead.

It is expected that the forward will depart Swansea following his return from a loan spell at Pride Park.

However, it’s believed that Yates will have the option to move abroad as well, with two MLS clubs also monitoring the situation surrounding his future.

The experienced striker has a contract that runs until the summer of 2026, meaning he is entering the final 12 months of his current deal.

If he is not sold this summer, or in January, then he will be free to depart the Swans for nothing at the end of next season.

Jerry Yates’ impact at Swansea

Yates signed from Blackpool in the summer of 2023, and featured regularly in his first campaign with the club.

He made 42 appearances in the Championship, including 24 starts, scoring eight goals and assisting one as the team finished 14th in the table.

However, he was loaned out last summer to Derby following their promotion from League One.

Yates made 42 appearances again in the league, but this time started on 40 occasions as his 10 goals helped John Eustace’s side finish 19th in the standings.

Yates should be sold if he’s not in Swansea’s plans

Yates was an important figure for Derby in their survival against relegation, showing that he’s more than capable of being a regular goal scorer at a Championship level.

But if he’s not in the club’s plans then a sale this summer makes the most sense given his contract situation.

This summer offers Yates the chance to move abroad, but Blackburn, QPR or Hull could all tempt him to remain in English football.

It shouldn’t be too costly to convince Swansea to sell either as they’ll want to avoid losing him for nothing, so it’s no surprise that a few different clubs see him as an appealing option for next season.
