Blackburn Rovers attacker Ellie Leek has signed a professional deal with the club.

The Lancashire club announced news of the player’s new deal via a post on their official website this morning.

The 27-year-old becomes the latest Blackburn Rovers player to sign professional terms with the club. She follows Alex Brooks, Hannah Coan, Helen Seed, Emma Doyle and Lauren Thomas in signing on again at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium for next season.

Leek joined Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer last summer. The player made 21 appearances for the club in all competitions in her first season in Lancashire with 17 of those outings coming in the FA Women’s Championship. The forward contributed four goals across the 2021/2022 campaign.

The player is vastly experienced at FA Women’s Championship level. Leek spent the 2019/2020 season with Charlton Athletic and Lewes while she was on The Rookettes’ books in 2020/2021. She could make her 50 appearance in the second tier of the English game during the 2022/2023 campaign should she be regularly involved for current club Blackburn Rovers once again.

Blackburn Rovers ended this season in 10th position in the FA Women’s Championship table. With many of their key players now contracted for next season, the squad is shaping well for an improved 2022/2023 campaign.
