Juventus kept the pressure on the teams above them with a victory over Serie A’s bottom club Venezia on Sunday.
Scorers: Bonucci 7′, 78′; Aramu 71′
Juve went close to an early goal when Luca Pellegrini hit the crossbar, before Leonardo Bonucci did give them the lead when he converted Mathijs De Ligt’s knock-down.
But Venezia pressed for an equaliser in the second half and with 20 minutes to go they got it, when Mattia Aramu fired in an unstoppable strike on the half volley.
The Bianconeri soon went back in front, however, and Bonucci was again the scorer, this time with his shin after Venezia had failed to clear a corner. A nice way to celebrate his 35th birthday.
That result leaves Max Allegri’s side three points behind Napoli in fourth place, while Venezia remain rooted to the foot of the table and six points from safety.
