Birmingham City defender Mikayla Wildgoose has joined Loughborough Lightning on a dual registration basis.

The Blues announced the news this morning via a post on their official club Twitter account.

The 17-year-old first broke into the Birmingham City senior squad last season. She was named amongst the Blues’ substitutes on eight occasions in all competitions, although the player is yet to make her first team debut for The Midlands club. Wildgoose has not been involved in any of Birmingham City’s Barclays Women’s Championship matches this season.

With Wildgoose in need of some senior footballing experience, the player has today joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Loughborough Lightning on a dual-registration basis. The defender will look to bring some stability at the back during her time with the third tier club with Loughborough Lightning having lost all five of their FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division fixtures so far this season. Loughborough Lightning did chalk up a 2-0 victory over Solihull Moors in the FAWNL Cup yesterday.

Next weekend sees Loughborough Lightning return to FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division action. The club face relegation rivals Boldmere St Michaels in a huge six-pointer. Wildgoose will be hoping for an opportunity to impress.
