Ryan Allsop has been recruited as a much-needed addition from Hull City, with John Ruddy yet to put pen to paper on a new contract and Neil Etheridge set to be released when his deal expires at the end of the month.

Allsop may have joined, but there's plenty of work to do for Blues in the coming months, with Emanuel Aiwu, Oliver Burke, Andre Dozzell, Cody Drameh and Jay Stansfield all returning to their parent clubs and Etheridge, Gary Gardner, Scott Hogan, Marc Roberts and Ivan Sunjic all being released.

With these departures in mind, there's a need for Birmingham to add more depth to their squad, as they look to win promotion from League One at the first time of asking.

In their likely quest to be fully prepared for the new season, which starts in less than two months, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Blues sign quite a few players during the early stages of the summer window.

They may already have some talented first-teamers at their disposal, but more fresh faces will be required following their relegation.

Below, we have taken a look at the latest transfer rumours involving the Midlands club.

Dan Scarr wanted by Birmingham City

Blues have opened talks to recruit Plymouth Argyle centre-back Dan Scarr, according to Football Insider.

The central defender made 31 competitive appearances last term and was one of the first names on the teamsheet during the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign.

However, the player could end up dropping down to the third tier and the fact his contract expires in 2025 could make him an affordable option for Chris Davies' side.

With Aiwu and Roberts both leaving the club, multiple signings will be needed at centre-back in the coming weeks and Scarr could be one of those.

Having won promotion with Plymouth at the end of the 2022/23 season, he could be a valuable option at St Andrew's if he signs.

Birmingham City face battle to sign Joe Morrell

Birmingham are also thought to be in the mix for Portsmouth midfielder Joe Morrell, who looks set to leave Fratton Park on a free transfer.

Pompey had the option to extend his contract, but they decided to enter into negotiations with the Welshman instead.

An agreement is yet to be found and with interest increasing in his signature, the promoted club could end up losing the central midfielder.

Journalist Phil Cadden believes Blues, Championship club Queens Park Rangers and third-tier club Wrexham are all interested in the player.

With QPR's interest in mind, Birmingham may need to offer an attractive package to convince Morrell to make the move to the Midlands.

Birmingham City target ambitious Bojan Miovski move

Aberdeen striker Miovski was a prolific figure for the Scottish Premiership club during the 2023/24 season - and has attracted interest following such an impressive campaign.

Both Birmingham and Bologna are interested in the player, according to Alan Nixon.

The same journalist has reported that the Italian club are willing to fork out as much as £7m, which would surely force Birmingham out of the race, even though they are thought to have "money and ambition".

With Stansfield leaving after the end of his loan spell and Hogan being released, Mivoski could be a good addition, but the Midlands club must also have alternatives lined up.
