Birmingham City midfielder Mollie Green has re-joined former club Coventry United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Red and Greens announced news of the deal via a post on their official club Twitter account this evening.

The 25-year-old spent last season with Coventry United. The player wrote her name into the club’s history books as she scored a dramatic late winning goal at Watford on the final day of the season to preserve Coventry United’s Barclays Women’s Championship status.

The Warwickshire club had to win that match to remain in the elite game but went into second half injury time with the scores deadlocked at 0-0. In the 97th minute of the match, Coventry United were awarded a free-kick 30 yards from goal and Green hammered the ball home to keep her side in the second tier.

Green joined Birmingham City on a free transfer last summer but the player has struggled for game time during her time at St Andrew’s. The midfielder has made just three appearances for the Blues in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Coventry United have recruited well during the January transfer window and the club will be hoping that Green will bring more magic to the Butts Park Arena as they look to again defy the odds and avoid relegation.
