Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James says he is confident his side can hurt Sheffield United when the two sides meet at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Blades have enjoyed an excellent start to the 2022/23 season, claiming 23 points from their ten league games so far to sit top of the Championship standings.

Indeed, Paul Heckingbottom’s side have won all four league games they have played at Bramall Lane this season, continuing their excellent home form from the previous campaign.

By contrast, Birmingham start the weekend some way behind the Blades, sitting 17th in the table, with 12 points to their name so far.

Did Birmingham City win, lose or draw the last time they played at these 18 stadiums?

Win Lose Draw

But despite the current gulf between the sides in the league table, it seems as though James is still confident that his Blues side can come away from Yorkshire with a result over the weekend.

Giving his thoughts on the challenge facing his side at Bramall Lane on Saturday, the midfielder told Birmingham’s official website: “It is going to be a tough game. They have got quality in their squad that will hurt people. But, hopefully, on the transition we can hurt them.

“They have started the season as they will have wanted, but we can look to continue our start. I think we have deserved more points than the ones that we have got.”

The Verdict

You can understand why James is taking this sort of approach with his mindset going into that clash with Sheffield United.

If the midfielder and his teammates were to go into this game not believing they could get something here, then it would give the Blades a big advantage, at a time when they are already in a strong position.

Indeed, having taken seven points from their five away Championship games so far this season, Birmingham do know that they can be a threat away from home against teams at this level.

Even so, with how strong Sheffield United have been this season, and the quality that there is the Blades’ squad, you do feel it will be incredibly tough for Birmingham to get something from this game.
