Mark Venus is currently in charge of the Midlands outfit due to Tony Mowbray’s enforced absence, with the team sitting 20th in the table.

Birmingham will be hoping to avoid the drop to League One in what has been a difficult season for the club.

Saturday’s clash against Millwall could have big ramifications in the table, with the two sides only separated by one point going into the weekend.

The Blues’ academy system has produced several exciting young talents in recent years, most notably Jude Bellingham.

But, according to Football Insider, another young prospect is attracting the interest of some top teams.

Tobey Ugorji is coming through the ranks of the club’s academy, currently competing at an U16 level.

And his performances are already causing a stir, with clubs from the Premier League and Ligue 1 reportedly taking an interest.

The forward has contributed an impressive 26 goals and 15 assists in 28 games this season in the youth team.

If the club can hold onto him then he could be the next big thing to come from their academy, but he will have to wait until he is 17 to sign a first professional contract.

Prutton has given his prediction for the Blues’ clash against Millwall this weekend.

Victory could move Venus’ side up to 16th in the table if results elsewhere go in their favour, but the EFL pundit claiming Lions will secure a 2-1 home win on Saturday afternoon.

“Millwall have picked up seven points in three games under Neil Harris,” wrote Prutton, via Sky Sports.

“They probably made the change at the right time, because if they stayed on the same course they were on before they’d be buried in the bottom three right now.

Birmingham might well be heading that way.

“They haven’t won any of their three games in Tony Mowbray’s absence from the dugout, and that will be a cause for concern.

“I think that could become four at The Den.”

Venus is optimistic that Marc Roberts will make his return to the team this weekend for the trip to the Den.

The interim coach confirmed that the 33-year-old trained this week ahead of the big game, but that Krystian Bielik will be unavailable for selection.

“Krystian is injured until after the internationals,” said Venus, via Birmingham Live.

“We reassess him after the internationals.

“Marc has trained today.

“We have to see how he reacts to training, hopefully he will train again tomorrow and he will hopefully be fit for selection.

“He is on the training ground so that’s good.”

Meanwhile, Venus is hopeful that Alex Pritchard will be available to start on Saturday after contributing a key assist in the team’s draw with Hull City midweek in his return to the team.

"I hope he is [ready to start]," he added.

"We have tried to be careful with these players.

“I think the club has suffered with a lot of injuries over the season and there’s no specific reason for that, but we have tried to nurture some of them back."
