That's according to a report from Birmingham Live, who say that the 31-year-old is expected to leave the Tigers this summer.

Allsop only joined Hull last summer, when he signed from Championship rivals Cardiff City for a fee reported to be worth around £250,000.

Having made that move, the goalkeeper then made 38 appearances in all competitions for the club last season, helping them to a seventh place finish in the final standings, three points adrift of the play-off places.

Now, however, it seems as though Allsop could once again be on the move this summer, with Birmingham now a potential destination.

Birmingham City working on Ryan Allsop transfer

As per this latest update, the Blues are showing an interest in signing Allsop with the transfer window now open.

It is thought that the Midlands club are looking to sign at least one new goalkeeper this summer, following the departure of Neil Etheridge.

While he has been offered a new contract by Birmingham, John Ruddy is also said to have held talks with other clubs, with his deal at St Andrew's expiring this summer.

Allsop is reported to have been identified as a potential target, in part due to the fact that the Midlands side are keen to sign a goalkeeper who can play with the ball at his feet.

That is an attribute that the 32-year-old does indeed possess, and he is expected to leave Hull this summer, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior as manager.

There is still a year remaining on Allsop's contract with the Tigers, securing his future at The MKM Stadium until the end of next season, meaning Birmingham will have to pay a fee for his services.

The Blues are, of course, preparing to compete in League One next season, after relegation from the Championship on the final day of the 2023/24 campaign.

If confirmed, Allsop could become their first signing of the summer, and first since the appointment of Chris Davies as their new manager earlier this month.

Ryan Allsop could be a good addition at St Andrew's

It does feel as though the signing of Allsop would be a sensible one for Birmingham to make this summer.

With Etheridge departing and Ruddy's future currently uncertain, it is clear they are going to need at least one new goalkeeper for next season.

They would obviously be getting one in Allsop, who would bring with him plenty of useful experience from across the Football League.

Having been born in the Midlands, there is also a good chance that this move could help to settle in nice and quickly at his new club.

Given there is just a year left on his contract with Hull, it may make sense for both teams to get this deal done now.

That situation may make him affordable for Birmingham, while the Tigers avoid the risk of him leaving for free this time next year.

Hull also have Matt Ingram and January signing Ivor Pandur available to provide the depth required between the posts, even in the event that Allsop does leave.

With all that in mind, this does feel like it could be a deal that ends up benefitting both Birmingham and Hull, if it is indeed completed.
