The forward has just turned 17-years old, which means he has come to new terms with the club as part of his initial agreement back in July.

Bellingham made his league debut at only 16 for the Blues, coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw against Preston North End in January 2022.

He has gone on to make a further four substitute appearances for the club, with the latest three coming under John Eustace since the start of this season.

The younger brother of Jude Bellingham has earned 18 minutes of Championship action so far this campaign as he looks to make a similar breakthrough to the Borussia Dortmund star.

Emile Heskey?

Yes No

The pair both came through the academy at Birmingham, with the older brother Jude earning a move to the Bundesliga side off the back of his performances in the second division.

Jobe Bellingham will be aiming to earn his first league start for the team following this development, with Eustace’s side next competing on 1 October against Sheffield United.

The Verdict

This is the right next step for Bellingham at this stage of his career and shows the faith the club have in his development.

So far he has only earned cameo appearances for the team, but at his age that is likely the best pathway forward so far.

He will be hoping to earn further playing time following this contract extension, and his performances suggest there is a lot of potential for him to become a key figure in the squad.

This is another big win for the club’s academy system, which has produced a number of talented players over the years.
