Birmingham City loanee Cody Drameh has labeled his Blues teammate Jordan James a Premier League player in the making.
James has been impressing for the Blues in recent seasons, so much so that a number of clubs have been linked with his signature.
Now, one of his current teammates has backed his ability to make a move to the top-flight in the future.
Having played in the top-flight briefly and been in and around the Premier League having been at Leeds United in recent seasons, Drameh is well-placed to comment on what a Premier League player looks like.
His verdict on Jordan James and his future, in that light, is indeed a glowing one.
"Jordan James is a Premier League player in the making," Drameh explained to Football League World via Sky Bet.
“Starting every game for Birmingham and Wales, at 19 years old, reflects how good he is as a player.”
Having come through the youth ranks at St Andrews, James' debut for the club came during the 2021/22 campaign, with Lee Bowyer trusting the youngster to feature in a Championship fixture in a short substitute cameo against Bristol City.
Clearly, James was impressing behind the scenes, going on to feature semi-regularly for the rest of that season, with his tally for the Blues that season reaching 21 appearances.
That summer, John Eustace took over as Blues boss, but this did not hinder James' progress. Although largely a squad player in 2022/23, the Welsh international still racked up a further 37 senior Blues appearances.
With Eustace still in charge heading into this campaign, James continued to be a squad player, but Wayne Rooney's arrival in October led to the youngster getting a run of starts in the first-team.
James has not looked back since, and has continued to go from strength to strength, now also featuring regularly for the Welsh national side.
The above performances have naturally led to a number of clubs showing an interest in the Blues academy graduate in recent months.
In fact, reports suggest that a number of sides failed with bids to sign James in January.
Crystal Palace reportedly tried to sign James up during the winter window, according to The Sun, and then loan the midfielder back to the Blues.
Their offer, however, was deemed too low, although the Eagles are said to remain keen heading into the summer.
Along with Palace, other clubs in the Premier League such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton have also been linked previously. Meanwhile, Leicester City are also reportedly keen.
James' options are not solely England-based, however, with Serie A outfit Atalanta having also made bids to sign the 19-year-old during the January transfer window, and Lecce having been linked with a move for his signature last summer.
Whether or not they return in the summer remains to be seen, but their attempts highlight that James' performances for Birmingham City are making it onto the radar of clubs overseas as well as those based in this country.
