Birmingham City and Cardiff City LFC cause Vitality Women’s FA Cup upsets | OneFootball

Birmingham City and Cardiff City Ladies caused upsets in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup 4th Round away to Everton and Burnley respectively.

Championship side Birmingham City eliminated WSL opponents in Everton, Jade Pennock with the goal after the hour mark.

Fourth-tier Cardiff City Ladies struck three times in a ten-minute first-half spell away to third-tier Burnley, Cori Williams’ opener added  to by a Laura Williams brace. Ingrid Adland buried the fourth from outside the area, Evie Priestley pulled one back for the Clarets.

Chelsea had to see off a Liverpool fightback, as Sam Kerr hit a hat-trick. Kerr scored from a Niamh Charles cross just after the half-hour, netting again early in the second half when aided by Fran Kirby. Ceri Holland replied from outside of the area, Kerr’s third brought a reply from Gemma Bonner to make for a tense finish.

Manchester United went through at Sunderland, after quickly wiping out a surprise leveller. Nikita Parris broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, volleying in from Ona Batlle’s cross despite the efforts of Claudia Moan. Abby Holmes headed the home team level via an Emily Scarr  corner, only for Parris to swiftly restorer United’s advantage.

Reading won 3-2 on penalties, following a 2-2 deadlock at Leicester City. Sanne Troelsgaard sent Reading one up after just five minutes, Sam Tierney heading Leicester level. Hannah Cain gave City the lead in extra-time, Emma Mukandi equalising to require the shoot-out, in which Grace Moloney saved a Carrie Jones penalty to put the Royals through.

Wolves held West Ham until 19 minutes from time, when Dagny Brynjarsdóttir turned in Keira Flannery’s delivery. Katie Johnson’s own-goal quickly gave the Hammers a two-goal cushion,

Ipswich Town kept Lewes at bay until the last quarter of an hour, when Emily Kraft found the net from distance.

Despite a strong start by London City Lionesses, Beth England headed Spurs in front from Rosella Ayane’s cross. Mana Iwabuchi doubled the lead with a deflected effort from almost the last kick of the half. Drew Spence made it 3-0 on the rebound from Eveliina Summanen’s effort being parried by Shae Yanez, who then saw Harley Bennett concede an own-goal past her. Khadija Shaw opened the scoring for Manchester City in their seven-goal sinking of Sheffield United. Chloe Kelly was next on target before her second assist saw Deyna Castellanos make it 3-0 by the break. Shaw got two more for her hat-trick, Julie Blakstad bagged a brace.

Caitlin Foord and Kathrine Kühl put Arsenal two up over Leeds in only 13 minutes, Foord won a penalty which Kim Little converted ahead of half-time. Lina Hurtig headed home via a corner, as did Jen Beattie, Stina Blackstenius  struck a swift double, Michelle Agyemang and Victoria Pelova also registering.

Brighton took a three-goal interval lead at West Brom, Julia Olme twice on target after Rebekah Stott was first on the scoresheet. Danielle Carter, Katie Robinson, Brianna Visalli and Jorja Fox later added one apiece.

Aston Villa blew away third-tier Fylde with six goals in the first 26 minutes, Rachel Daly with a double and a missed penalty, Laura Blindkilde, Kenza Dali, Emily Gielnik and Anna Patten with one each. Daly finished with four, Alisha Lehmann, Maz Pacheco and a Sarah Mayling penalty taking the tally to eleven.

Shania Hayles’ header in first-half stoppage-time saw Bristol City go in one up against Oxford United. Jodie Hutton got the second soon after the restart, Jessica Woolley and Emily Syme then securing City’s win.

Mollie Lambert and Jess Clarke fired Durham into a 2-0 lead over Crystal Palace after just 25 minutes. Lily Crosthwaite rounded off the win late on.

Charlton Athletic were quick of the mark at Wimbledon with two goals in a dozen minutes from Freda Ayisi and a Kiera Skeels header. Angela Addison, Bethan Roe and Melissa Johnson put the Addicks out of reach, before Ashlee Hincks’ consolation goal.

Ellen Jones and Mary McAteer had Coventry United two goals to the good before the 34th-minute red card for Hashtag United’s Jamie-Lee Bamford, Alanah Mann netted from outside the box to put her side three up at the midway point, Freya Thomas rounding off the oring.
