Long-serving Everton chairman Bill Kenwright will remain in place, the club have confirmed.
Kenwright was expected to go when board changes were announced earlier this month, with chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief finance and strategy officer Grant Ingles and non-executive director Graeme Sharp all leaving their roles.
At the time, Everton said there would be an update on Kenwright’s future within 48 hours.
Now, over a week later, the club have finally confirmed the 77-year-old will remain in the chairman position he has held since 2004.
“I wanted Bill to remain as our chairman during this important period of transition for the club,” owner Farhad Moshiri said.
“I am delighted that he has accepted my request to do so.”
Each of the last two Premier League seasons have seen Everton narrowly escape Premier League relegation and the club are heading into a final campaign at Goodison Park with a new stadium being built on Bramley-Moore Dock in the centre of Liverpool.
