AC Milan are interested in signing a Borussia Dortmund defender on a free transfer and it is not Mats Hummels, according to a report.

Bild reported yesterday that Hummels is attracting interest from Milan given that his deal Dortmund expires on June 30th and everything remains open at the moment, with the veteran defender tempted by the idea of a new experience in Italy.

Now, the same source are reporting that Milan are keen on another BVB defender who has an expiring deal: Marius Wolf. The 28-year-old right-back has not made any decision on his future just yet but the idea of a move to Italy is said to appeal to him.

The Germany international can play either as a full-back or further up as a wing-back and he has made 31 appearances for Dortmund this season. They signed Wolf from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee of €5m 2018.

If the move were to come to fruition, then it would certainly confirm the previous reports suggesting that Milan are looking for someone to challenge captain Davide Calabria for his starting spot.

It seems to be certain that Wolf will depart Dortmund given he said farewell at the Signal Iduna Park after the final round of the Bundesliga, though there is a Champions League final at Wembley to come next weekend.
