Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly rejected AS Monaco’s first offer for veteran goalkeeper and captain Lukáš Hrádecký, as negotiations enter a critical phase this summer.
This offer is said to be well below the €4 million demanded by Leverkusen. Nevertheless, everything points to Hradecky moving to Monaco, where he is expected to be the number one goalkeeper and could earn more:
Up to €3 million net is said to be possible, while at Werkself it is rumored to be up to €4 million, but gross. Leverkusen have not yet given up the fight for the keeper and want to keep him with an extension including a follow-up contract after his career.
Despite Monaco agreeing a deal on personal terms, the Bundesliga club appear unwilling to cash in at present - a stance complicated by Hrádecký's growing openness to a move.
The 35‑year‑old Finn, who has served Leverkusen since 2018 - including captaining the side to a historic Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2024 - faces mounting uncertainty over a starting spot after the club's €10 million acquisition of Dutch stopper Mark Flekken.
With Flekken positioned as the new No. 1, Hrádecký has publicly acknowledged the possibility of departure. “I have a contract in Leverkusen, but I can’t promise anything,” he said, stressing his preference for a move where he can still play regularly.
