According to insiders and reports from Voetbal International, Kiwi midfielder Matthew Garbett (22) has been removed from NAC Breda’s team selection. He will therefore not go to the training camp in Spain, as the club have decided that he is allowed to leave. The same applies to Manel Royo.

Last week, VI reported that NAC would like to cooperate in a quick departure of Garbett. The New Zealand international is no longer coach Carl Hoefkens’ plans. As a result, he does not have to go to Alicante where NAC will prepare for the second half of the season.

Despite scoring during the victory over Ajax (2-1) this season, Garbett has seemingly failed to kick on and was informed of the manager’s decision before Christmas. This season, Hoefkens, who led NAC into the winter break in tenth place, called on Garbett twelve times, with eight of those being starts. His only goal of the season was the strike against Ajax.

Incidentally, Garbett is not the only player who is allowed to leave Breda. Manel Royo, Martin Koscelník, Tom Boere, Adam Kaied, Aïmane Jaddi and Mostapha Rached are all allowed to speak with any interested clubs, should offers arrive. Royo is also not going to Spain. It is also very doubtful whether Koscelnik will leave for Alicante.
