On Wednesday morning, Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain’s legal teams met at the Legal Commission of the Ligue de Football Professionnel’s headquarters. According to RMC Sport, the commission suggested that both sides pursue mediation to settle their differences without escalating the situation further through legal channels.

Following the recommendation for mediation, Paris Saint-Germain issued a statement addressing this latest development. However, the 25-year-old’s representatives aren’t pleased with this turn of events.

In a statement sent to AFP, they announced that they are rejecting the LFP’s proposal to mediate the financial dispute with PSG. A source close to the situation spoke with Radio France Internationale and noted this new development as a major defeat.

“The idea of mediation was brought up this morning, but the player’s representative rejected it during the session,” the source said (h/t Le10Sport). “It’s a big defeat for Kylian. He was hoping the commission would order PSG to pay him €55 million, but they accepted our strong and relevant arguments, saying he needed to come to an agreement.”

Last month, it was reported that Kylian Mbappé plans to bring his financial dispute with Paris Saint-Germain before the Legal Commission of the Ligue de Football Professionnel.

The newly signed Real Madrid forward is demanding that PSG pay him the €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses he’s owed. This issue seems far from resolved, so it will be interesting to see how things develop.
