Chelsea have seen a first official offer to sign a player rejected and they have been sent a counteroffer in response.

According to reports last night, Chelsea have seen their first offer rejected for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, but it’s not over.

Chelsea are busy in the market right now and as well as Hato, they are trying to secure another deal to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig as well in what has been called the ‘double dutch deal’ by many Chelsea fans who have been excited by this prospect this week.

But despite Chelsea wanting to sign these two players, it is Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa who is being called the dream Chelsea signing this summer window, which will come as a surprise I guess.

Personal terms agree for Hato

Back to the deal to sign Hato from Ajax now, and it’s been reported earlier this week that Chelsea have already agreed personal terms to sign Hato this window.

And in that same report via Fabrizio Romano, it states that the fee is likely to be around £34m should Chelsea be able to pull it off. This fee has always been debated by other sources who have expected it to be much more than that.

So I guess it comes as no surprise to hear of an offer allegedly being rejected by Ajax.

Offer knocked back

According to ESPN Netherlands, Ajax has rejected Chelsea’s first official offer for Jorrel Hato. They have sent a counteroffer back. Ajax wants to keep Hato but is also considering his desire to leave.

So with the counteroffer being sent, this deal is obviously still on at the moment. But Chelsea will need to be happy to pay the new fee being asked. Or maybe they go back with another offer and try and meet somewhere in the middle.
