As reported by AS, Real Betis are planning a January move for Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, having already missed out on the Argentine once in 2023.

Partly due to injury, the 27-year-old former PSG midfielder has only played 16 minutes of Premier League football at Spurs this season under new coach Ange Postecoglou after returning to North London following 18 months on loan in La Liga with Villarreal. However, Tottenham were not willing to let Lo Celso leave the club this summer despite interest from Betis, who were unable to match Spurs’ demands.

Barcelona were also interested in the player, but neither club was willing to meet Spurs’ valuation of between €15m and €20m, with a loan move not being an option for Tottenham. However, defender Luiz Felipe’s move to Saudi Arabia this summer has made Betis’ financial situation more agreeable, and a January move is now possible with Lo Celso seemingly on the fringes of the Spurs team.

Lo Celso spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Betis from PSG, scoring nine times and assisting six in 32 La Liga games before he was signed permanently and being quickly sold on to Spurs for around €40m.
