Bethany England has been shortlisted for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award.

Our captain, who missed the opening two months of the campaign due to a hip injury, is in the running for April’s award after finding the back of the net in our two WSL games last month, plus an excellent performance in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Leicester City.

She was in the right place in the right time to guide Drew Spence’s initial effort past Mary Earps in our 2-2 draw with Manchester United last month, helping us to pick up a valuable point at Leigh Sports Village.

Bethany then grabbed the all-important equaliser in our stalemate with Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, guiding Ashleigh Neville’s cross over the goalkeeper in the 81st minute to secure a 1-1 draw at Brisbane Road.

That made it three goals in three WSL games for our number nine, having previously scored against Bristol City in March.

Also competing for the award are Machester City’s Lauren Hemp, Arsenal’s Beth Mead and Alessia Russo, Everton’s Karen Holmgaard and Aston Villa’s Sophia Poor.

You can help Bethany claim the Player of the Month award by voting four our captain via the link below.

Voting closes at 10am on Monday 6 May. The winner will be announced in due course.
