Arsenal and England forward Beth Mead will miss the rest of the season after she ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament.

Mead was voted Player of the Tournament at Euro 2022 as her goals helped guide the Lionesses to an historic title over the summer.

And she has kept up that form so far for the Gunners with five goals in all competitions so far.

But Mead will now sit out the remainder of the campaign after she damaged her knee ligaments in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

“We can confirm that Beth Mead suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in our match against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday,” Arsenal confirmed on their website.

Mead will now undergo surgery before a lengthy spell of rehabilitation.
