The quarter-finals of Euro 2022 are done and we are down to the last four.
Here’s our team of the round.
Sweden were heavy favourites against Belgium but needed a late winner to secure a narrow victory thanks to the brilliance of the Red Flames’ semi-professional goalkeeper Evrard, who came to her side’s rescue with some fine saves.
Runner-up: Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands)
Was in the right place at the right time to score the dramatic late goal to send Sweden through to the semi-final.
Runner-up: Ona Batlle (Spain)
The Dutch were under the cosh for large swathes of Saturday’s quarter-final but Van der Gragt helped keep France at bay with some brilliant old school defending and heroic blocks.
Runner-up: Millie Bright (England)
The French captain was a colossus at the back as usual and helped to ensure Vivianne Miedema barely got a clear sight of goal all evening.
Runner-up: Olga Carmona (Spain)
Bossed the midfield against Austria, winning the ball back on numerous occasions and distributing possession well.
Runner-up: Patricia Guijarro (Spain)
One of England’s most important players, Walsh’s reading of the game was crucial against Spain and her role in the equaliser makes her the unsung hero of the round.
Runner-up: Julia Hickelsberger-Füller (Austria)
Opened the scoring against Austria with a cool finish and brought so much energy and intelligence to Germany’s midfield.
Runner-up: Filippa Angeldal (Sweden)
Worked tirelessly in England’s midfield and her stunning winner against Spain was the goal of the tournament so far.
Runner-up: Selma Bacha (France)
Sweden’s mercurial midfield genius is always a joy to watch and her performance against Belgium was a masterclass in playmaking.
Runner-up: Aitana Bonmatí (Spain)
Started ahead of the returning Lea Schüller and repaid coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s faith with a hard-working performance which was rewarded with a goal when she closed down Austria goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger to score late on.
Runner-up: Esther González (Spain)
England’s super sub came off the bench to score her first major tournament goal after being assisted by her best friend Alessia Russo. What a moment for the 22-year-old.
Runner-up: Kadidiatou Diani (France)
