Arsenal and Milan centre-backs Riccardo Calafiori and Matteo Gabbia are among the best performing Italy players from this week’s top flight fixtures, but the highest rating actually fell to Vinvenzo Grifo of SC Freiburg, who netted twice in a 3-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.

Grifo grabbed his first two goals of the 2024-25 season in an away victory over in Germany, and came away with ratings of 8.5/10 or 9/10 depending on the outlet.

The second-highest rated eligible Italy player was also outside Serie A, as Calafiori marked his full Premier League debut with a stunning goal in Arsenal’s entertaining 2-2 draw away against Manchester City.

Gabbia, who scored the winner in Milan’s 2-1 derby victory over Inter, and Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone both got ratings of 7.5/10 from the Italian press.

In order to accommodate Tommaso Baldanzi and Daniel Maldini, who both came away ruth ratings of 7/10, this week’s best Italy XI is lined up in a Serie A-friendly 3-4-2-1 shape.
