With a double and then a blank on the horizon, Gameweek 28 becomes a key window in which to play the second FPL wildcard to navigate the tricky upcoming period.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto takes the vice-captaincy ahead of the Cherries double, with a pair of attractive home games bringing promise for a significant fantasy haul. Goalkeepers are often overlooked for their potential in a double gameweek. Neto has kept six clean sheets this season and ranks seventh among goalkeepers for saves on 89.
The go-to fantasy investment in the Bournemouth defence Marcos Senesi succumbed to injury last time out against Burnley, which sees his team-mate Illia Zabarnyi ascend the rankings here. He has been a mainstay in the Cherries defence this season, playing every single minute of action, but does rely on clean sheets for fantasy points.

Luton Town wing-back Alfie Doughty takes the double gameweek contingent up to three in the defence, with his attacking output of most importance since he plays out of position at wing-back for the Hatters. Doughty has registered nine goal involvements for the season and is dominant on set pieces, so there are plenty of routes to points.
The inclusion of Arsenal centre-back Gabriel here despite a lack of fixture in Blank Gameweek 29 is a reflection of his dominance in the game right now. Arsenal have kept a leading 11 clean sheets in this campaign, while Gabriel himself has four goal involvements, carrying an obvious aerial threat in the box from set pieces for the Gunners.
With the three forward spots precious in our fantasy teams right now, it’s Luton midfielder Ross Barkley who sneaks into the attack in this 3-4-3 formation for their double. He has been a mainstay of the Luton squad this year, with two goals and two assists across the last eight gameweeks, although he does come into this game following a run of four blanks.
Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka is a must-pick on wildcard, having delivered attacking returns in six successive games. He’s produced seven goals and two assists in this time, is dominating spot-kicks and has four double-digit hauls from this spell. Arsenal have won all of their games so far in 2024, scoring a leading tally of 31 goals in this time.
Spurs captain Son Heung-min is a key selection on wildcard since he’s playing central once again, with a goal and an assist from three appearances since returning from the Asia Cup. He has a good record against his opponent Aston Villa this week, with five goals and one assist from seven appearances. Spurs play Fulham in Blank Gameweek 29.
West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has returned to form at exactly the right time for his owners, with promoted Burnley up next before facing Aston Villa in the blank. He has produced four attacking returns in his last two games, with an emphatic hat-trick against Brentford in Gameweek 26. Only Mo Salah has more goals this season among midfielders.
Dominic Solanke is close to essential with this Double Gameweek 28 in mind, as Bournemouth entertain two promoted sides. It’s thought that he will be fully fit, having been hampered by a knee issue in recent weeks. He has one goal and two assists in the last four gameweeks. His should be a lock for the captain’s armband ahead of the deadline.
Erling Haaland has been consistently delivering fantasy points since returning from injury, with four goals and two assists in six appearances. This top-of-the-table clash against Liverpool will be unpredictable, but Haaland did get himself on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture which ended in a 1-1 draw. Haaland also has penalties in his locker.
Ollie Watkins’ season continues to go from strength to strength, with five goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks taking him up to a remarkable 31 attacking returns for the season. He has already scored against Spurs this season and has double-digit hauls in three of his last five Premier League games. Plus, he has a fixture in the big blank.
Here’s the team in full with a bench of Kaminski, Maddison, Alex Moreno and Udogie who provide utility for the upcoming Blank Gameweek 29.
