Fixture: Wolves (H)
Mohamed Salah has been frustrating for his owners so far, especially those who have stuck with him for the captaincy.
Despite his and Liverpool’s mediocre start, Salah's stats have been okay, with 14 shots in the box, and an Expected Goals (xG) of 2.3, and he has created 24 chances (first) with an Expected Assists (xA) of 1.76.
His underlying numbers are fine, although not as good as last season at this point. However, it’s early days, and you would bet that he picks up in both output and stats.
Liverpool have a decent fixture in Gameweek 7 as they welcome Wolves to Anfield. The Reds have scored 15 goals (second) with an xG of 13.13 (second) so I think they will come good soon, and so will Salah.
The Egyptian was unfortunate not to score against Everton last gameweek, as he hit the post in the final moments of the match.
Mo Salah is still a great option, and it’s very likely he will come good soon. His record and ability are too good to give up on him just yet. He is at 51% to score at anytime (second) and Liverpool are also the favourites to score 2.5+ goals (50%).
He is also the highest predicted scoring midfielder (7.7 points) for Gameweek 7 according to our Points Prediction Tool.
Fixture: Bournemouth (a)
Pascal Gross has had a great start to the season. He has three goals and two assists in his first five games, with an xG of 1.79, and nine chances created with an xA of 2.67.
For only £6m, he is putting up really good numbers and output.
Significantly, he has now played the full 90 minutes in every single game so far.
Brighton have a fantastic fixture in Gameweek 7 as they take on Bournemouth. The Cherries have conceded the most goals in the league (18) with an xGC of 11.2 (seventeenth).
The Seagulls have scored 11 goals (fifth) with an xG of 12.03 (fifth). They have been great going forward, and this looks like another game in which they can score more than a few.
Gross is also on corners and free kicks, and has many avenues to points which makes him even more attractive as an option.
He has both goal and assist threat, and has been playing a lot further forward this season looking at his average position maps.
Fixture: Everton (H)
Gabriel Martinelli has three goals and one assist so far, and is a great value option. He has registered an xG of 2.77 and an xA of 2.26, which is the highest amongst his team after Gabriel Jesus (£8.1m).
Furthermore, his spot in the team looks more than secure with Emile Smith-Rowe (£5.7m) picking up another injury.
The Brazilian’s underlying numbers are fantastic, especially at his price. Even if you don’t own him at the moment, he is still more than worth it at £6.5m, which is £0.5m more than he started at.
Arsenal have a really good fixture in Gameweek 7, with a home game against Everton. The Toffees have only conceded six goals, but have an xGC of 10.4 (thirteenth) so really should have conceded more.
Fixture: Aston Villa (H)
James Maddison had his best ever season last term, racking up 12 goals and 11 assists. He registered an xG of 8.07, and an xA of 7.41. So far this season, he has two goals and one assist.
Leicester City have been poor so far as they sit rock bottom of the league with only a single point.
However, they have still been scoring goals, and it's mainly their defence that is letting them down. They have netted eight goals (eighth) with an xG of 5.97 (sixteenth).
Maddison is also on corners and free kicks, so will always have many avenues to points. He can score and assist, and is a proven FPL asset.
Furthermore, the Foxes have a decent fixture this week as they take on Aston Villa at home who have conceded 10 goals (seventeenth) with an xGC 10.6 (fourteenth).
Both teams have been poor overall, but Leicester will be the favourites here being at home.
I think this is a good fixture for Maddison to get some attacking returns, and for Brendan Rodgers to get his first win of the season.
Fixture: Nottingham Forest
Jack Harrison has one goal and three assists this season, with an xG of 0.91, and he has created 18 chances with an xA of 2.36.
He has the highest xG and xA amongst the Leeds United midfielders bar Rodrigo (£6.3m) who is now injured.
Leeds have one of their most favourable fixtures of the season as they take on Nottingham Forest at home in Gameweek 7.
Forest have some of the worst defensive stats in the league, conceding 14 goals (eighteenth) with an xGC of 13.1 (twentieth).
Meanwhile, Leeds have scored 10 goals (sixth) with an xG of 9.87 (ninth) so this looks like a plum fixture for the Whites when it comes to the final third.
Harrison is a proven FPL asset with 16 goals and 11 assists in his last two seasons. He has both goal and assist threat, and is also on corners and free-kicks, so looks like the most reliable option from their midfield.
There should be goals in this game and Harrison has a very good chance of being involved. He also has the highest expected goal involvement (xGI) amongst the current Leeds players who are fit.
To conclude, I will rank these Gameweek 7 midfielders in accordance with our Power Rankings for Hub members.
