A new England song created to the tune of popular Christmas anthem ‘Fairytale of New York’ is going viral.

In classic international tournament tradition, fans across the globe have been creating brand new songs and chants in honour of their national teams and favourite stars.

However, what makes this World Cup different, is that it’s taking place over the winter and therefore right on the periphery of Christmas.

As a result, many of the songs created this year have had the added twist of being Christmas themed.

Now, we have to say, there hasn’t been all that many bangers as of yet.

But that seems to have changed after one England fan’s hilarious chant to the theme of ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues hit social media.

The song is going viral with plenty of Three Lions supporters revelling in the combination of England and their favourite Christmas party tune.

So, how does the song go? We’ve added the lyrics below with a clip of the masterpiece slightly further down.

“They’ve got calves big as cars, they’ve got rivers of Stones.

“Harry Kane goes right through you and heads for the goal.

“When they first qualified on that cold Wembley eve, they promised me Grealish was waiting for me.

“He’s handsome, he’s pretty, he plays for Man City, when the crowd finished singing, they call out for Shaw.

“Saka was winning, Conor Coady was chillin’, they embody the spirit of Old Bobby Moore.

“The boys of Southgate’s England team are sat upon a throne.

“And the crowd are signing out, it’s coming home.”

Petition to make that the official World Cup song for Qatar because that, ladies and gentlemen, is a classic.

We figure it’s only a matter of time before that’s being belted out in pubs across the nation, hopefully as England progress deeper and deeper into this World Cup.

And with the final due to take place on December 18, one week before Christmas day, it looks to be the perfect song to help everybody across the nation get into the holiday spirit.
