According to Sky Sports, DeAndre Yedlin is ‘close’ to securing a long-awaited move to Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş.
The Turkish outfit are favoured to beat out a number of European and Major League Soccer sides to his signature, with Newcastle reportedly having been seeking a fee of around £5m.
However, Sky Sports now claim that, with just one year remaining on his current deal, Yedlin could now leave Tyneside on a free transfer.
Yedlin is said to be making wages of around £1.5m annually, so it comes as a big surprise that the Magpies would be willing to let the Premier League veteran leave for nothing this summer.
If the 27-year-old is to leave for free in the current transfer window, the potential for an MLS side to repatriate Yedlin would certainly rise, as they have been trying hard to him back for free for several months.
