Besiktas are in talks to sign Kyle Walker-Peters as a free agent after the defender’s departure from Southampton.
Walker-Peters is available on a free transfer after leaving relegated Southampton at the expiry of his contract.
A number of Premier League teams have been linked with signing the 27-year-old, with Everton and former club Tottenham Hotspur among those reportedly eyeing a move.
However, Besiktas have made an approach to sign the versatile full-back, who has won two caps for England at senior level.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Turkish side are in negotiations with the defender over a move to the Süper Lig and are ‘confident’ of finalising the transfer.
Should Benfica conclude the deal, Walker-Peters will become the latest Englishman to link up with the Istanbul outfit.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tammy Abraham are currently part of the Besiktas squad, under the management of former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Besiktas finished fourth in the Süper Lig last season to qualify for the Europa League.
