Brighton have announced that defender Bernardo has joined Austrian side RB Salzburg on loan for the rest of the season.

He spent six months there in 2016 before moving to Leipzig, where the Seagulls swooped to sign him in 2018.

“Bernardo is at a stage in his career where he wants to be playing regular football,” Graham Potter said of the move.

“This should give him the opportunity to do that. We wish him well for the rest of the season and we will watch his progress with interest.”

Last week, Bernardo reached a Brighton milestone by making his 50th appearance for the club in the 1-0 loss against Manchester City.
