Berbatov backs Man United to surprise people v Liverpool

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov fancies the Red Devils to beat Liverpool at Anfield later today.

Liverpool haven’t been defeated on home soil in four years, but Dimitar Berbatov reckons that run will come to an end with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men ready to upset the odds.

In his column for the Metro, Berbatov explained how he wants United to go six points clear (don’t we all?).

“I want to see United make the most of the position they are in and increase their lead at the top to six points clear of Liverpool,” Berbatov wrote.

“It’s going to be a tough game and there is a lot at stake. I think it will be a tactical battle but I don’t care how they do it, I just want to see United win, and I think they will continue to surprise people.”

Kick-off is not until 16:30 so we’ve got another while yet, but these stomach pains are getting tense and the optimism I had earlier in the week is running low.

This is a major test for Solskjaer’s men — after losing several important games under his leadership in four semi-finals, as well as the games against RB Leipzig, Arsenal and Tottenham. A win today would be a big step forward.

That usually happens before a big game but the reality is, form goes out the window during these meetings and we’ve seen that over the years.

Anfield without fans isn’t the same. Solskjaer’s players just need to focus on their own game.
