Beppe Iachini says leaving Fiorentina at the end of the season is the right call.
Iachini stepped in after the departure of Cesare Prandelli in March.
“I was called to overcome some difficult moments," said Iachini in his press conference.
“Last year we finished 10th, this time we had to split the work. I thank the President for his honesty and generosity. I returned during such a difficult moment because I didn't want to leave the lads on their own. I tried to give my contribution and leave with my head held high, knowing I helped my Fiorentina. That makes me happy."
Iachini never disguised his love for the Viola, representing this club as both a player and a coach, but he won't try to extend his stay any longer.
“I retuned after five-and-a-half months to find a tough fixture list and a squad that was clearly terrified. A leader mustn't lower his head, so I tried to set the example for everyone. I won't deny, there was some worry…
“I had already spoken to the President after the win over Lazio. He intimated there was the possibility I could remain, but it's only right that I have my journey and Fiorentina continue theirs.
“Fiorentina can never be just any other club for me. It's good to leave like this, as great friends, with the joy of knowing I've given my all as both a player and a coach.
“I don't know what my future holds, I am focused on the next two games and then we'll see."
