Karim Benzema has been voted the Mahou Five Star Player for September, a month in which he scored seven goals in six games. The Frenchman picked up the award in recognition of his impressive performances over the past month, in which he scored a hat-trick in the match at home to Celta, a brace against Mallorca and goals against Valencia and Sheriff in the Champions League.

With 10 goals in as many official games this season, Real Madrid's top scorer said: "I'm really happy. I'd like to thank all the fans. It's important for me that I give my all in every game and I've had to work very hard to reach this level. I hope to keep up this form".
