Karim Benzema has been named France's best player of 2021. ‘France Football’ has chosen the Real Madrid striker for the award, after a spectacular year in which he scored 47 goals. For the Whites, he netted 38 times (30 in LaLiga, seven in the Champions League and one in the Spanish Super Cup). This is the Frenchman’s best haul in a calendar year since he joined the club. It is the fourth time that Benzema has won this award after collecting it in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

He scored another nine goals for France and his strike in the final of the Nations League won by his national team warrants a special mention. The Madrid striker has already scored three goals in three games at the start of 2022. His latest goal came in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona, when he was voted MVP.
